Available only from Stromberg Speed Parts. A brand new genuine Stromberg 97 with 250cfm max airflow, significantly improved fuel circuits and ported vacuum for your aftermarket distributor. This model features an exact re-issue of the original Stromberg cable choke lever and bracket, as used on special aftermarket 97s made for 1949-53 Ford models. You can use the cable choke option on the centre carburetor of a 3×2 set, but tight carb spacing usually means that the cable mounting bracket is best mounted on the rear carburetor and the cable brought forward to the center carburetor. The system works best with an early Ford style wire choke, which pushes and pulls from the dashboard control. If you use a more flexible cable, you may also need a choke return spring. The BIG97 Primary can be used on its own, in multiples (with direct or progressive linkage) or as part of the BIG97 Tri-Power. Everything that makes the Genuine Stromberg 97 so popular is built into the all-new BIG97. And so much more. Here are some highlights:
  • 55% more airflow – a 1.175in venturi with improve venturi entry and exit shapes for 250cfm per carburetor.
  • Located in the fuel bowl, the new power valve circuit feeds directly into the emulsion tubes, significantly improving fuel conditioning at higher rpm.
  • New ‘early plenum effect’ base casting allows all cylinders to draw from both barrels for more top end power. It’s like dual-plane drivability with a single-plane top end.
  • Ported distributor vacuum improves combustion efficiency at cruise. You’ll run smoother and cooler, with more torque and better fuel mileage.
  • BIG S-jet twin-ball inlet valves take big 5/16in hard line and the full range of Stromberg fuel fittings.
  • Super-efficient 20 degree entry angles encouraging maximum pressure drop into the venturi, with minimum flow loss and excellent signal stability.
  • Bigger, thinner 1.34in throttle plates work within offset throttle bores, while flared exit cones ensure good pressure recovery and low turbulence.
  • BIG97 accelerator pump discharge jets (Primary carburetors only) are smaller and located higher up, well out of the booster airflow.
  • All BIG97s come ready to run with 0.056in main jets, #65 power valve and a #60 accelerator pump valve. A wide range of jets and power valves is available separately.
  • Black & Chrome and Barn Find finishes, plus LZ-style ‘push-throttle’ options available to special order
